and furthermore…

while we’re on the subject of booze, let me just take a moment to say that there is not enough produced in Kentucky to make my daily eight hours of oligarch duty palatable in any way shape or form.  You know how the the_world_we_can_only_dream_32internet is clogged with graphics and pundits all saying “do what you love”?  WTF?  How the frig does that happen? Maybe it’s up to some creative sales and marketing genius to flog certain beverages not found at FourFiveTen Starbuck’s in new and invigorating ways to make the days less mind-numbing and soul-sucking.  FYI – images blatantly stolen from Mike’s Mumbles.

what i lack in personality i make up for in bourbon

I have nothing to say.  Specifically.  It’s been crazy busy work wise for the past two weeks (including weekends) and today marked the culmination of some of my efforts so I can breathe a little tonight.

I know I keep writing about this “book” I’ve written….just hang in there – big news coming very very very very soon.  I can say this – I have learned to appreciate the amount of effort that goes into a book besides actually writing it.  Posting an eBook version is one thing, actually designing the cover and interior is a whole different kettle of wax. (or ball of fish – whichever you prefer).  I have a new respect for book designers.

sunny-day-1And now for something completely different – – things that are unnecessary.  Do we REALLY need to name every single weather event from now on?  It’s a snow storm.  It’s not a hurricane or a typhoon.  Why, all of a sudden do we have to name them?  I think it is totally unfair to name only what people consider “dangerous” weather systems.  Why can’t we name sunny days.  “Sunshine Judy is heading our way on Friday followed by 24 hours of Balmy Dave.  Next week will be a beautiful Milton so head for the beach and take plenty of sunscreen.”   Seriously, what the hell?

a blessing

God, please silence my erring tongue so that it can be used to do only your will and speak of love and grace.

Please keep me from reminding my fellow-man of his faults and foibles that I should not cast judgement without looking in the mirror.

Please remind me that comparing certain fellow workmates to certain species of invertebrates is not in course with your wishes.

Nor should I remind them that there are certain strains of yet undiscovered tree fungus that have more common sense than those who share my cube farm.

Please guide me to reach out with a gentle touch instead of the warranted 2 by 4 to the head.

Help me to pray for those in need of guidance in that they may avoid the wrath of a high-speed drill applied to their inner ear.

It is in your name that I seek the patience required to endure their badgering and monosyllabic babbling that is supposed to represent intelligent human speech.

At the end of the day, I ask your blessing on this flock, your servants, that they safely find their way home to their pastures, to their grasslands overrun with berserk wheat threshers.

Thy will, not mine, be done.

21 guns

I put the cast rendition of this beautiful song up for a reason.  I miss being part of a group of people who give a shit about each other and are working toward a common goal.  I’ve done stage plays in high school and college and there is nothing better; most (if not all) the petty shit falls away, even with people who clash, as everyone wants the final product to shine.  All this is missing from the current workforce..at least it is from my experience.  My work place is nothing but paranoid power mongers who care less about the people who work for them.  There is no team spirit, no guiding force…NO LEADERSHIP…just incompetent management.  What a sad way to live a life.  It’d give anything to be part of a group of people with brains, compassion, drive, vision and a real sense of community…not the fake corporate propaganda that gets spit at the workers every day.  Can you tell I’m fucking fed up with it?

qm – four letter word

Welcome to The Queen’s Meme
7 Royal Questions on Tuesday
so sez her worshipfulness: Let’s talk that 4-letter work today: W.O.R.K.
We all have to make a living one way or another.  It’s a necessary part of life. Sometimes it’s good to evaluate where we are and what we want. We spend too much time each day “on the job” to be unhappy. I did a little soul-searching today. Join me.
1. Are you in a job/career you always wanted?
pffftttt.  what I was hoping for was an eight-hour day of having my head in a vice while standing in a bucket of piranhas.

2. Do you find your workaday world fulfilling and rewarding?
most certainly.  imagine if you will building a house.  all the materials have been delivered, the wood, the nails, the concrete, the sheetrock..everything you need – except tools.  you’re not allowed to have any tools.  build away.

3. If you could change jobs, what would you do?
train engineer.
or neurosurgeon.  i can’t decide….

4. What about your job irritates you the most?
just ONE thing ??!?!?  Damn….  the politics, the lack of planning, the politics, apathetic managers, the politics, the verbal abuse, the politics, the paranoia, the politics, infantile behavior, the politics….

5. Would you rather have a high pressure meaningful career or a mindless clock-punching job?
I have a high pressure mindless clock-punching career now.  what more could i ask for?

6.  I believe in the concept of “paying myself first” as in tucking away dollars for emergencies and vacations. If you started a special savings plan and could save a certain amount each week to do something only for yourself, what would that be?
musical hair plugs.

7. What do you think is the hardest paying job on earth?
elephant gynecologist.
and speaking of work…this site might interest you…Please Fire Me

“Noah?  How long can you tread water???”

Noah I ain’t – I have enough trouble with one dog and one cat much less two of everything.  It definitely has been a week of treading in a tsunami without a snorkle -at least that’s what it felt like.  Work is a BEAR.  And not Yogi or BooBoo.  More like Gentle Ben with a furious case of hemorrhoids.  Everyone is feeling it.  Of course management loves it because their pat answer is..”sure.  go find another job.  I dare you.”  Bastardos.

Speaking of hemorrhoids.. have you heard about the judge in Miami who has OK’d removing certain library books from the shelves?  This one was about Cuba and depicted a smiling communist child…we certainly don’t want people exposed to that…moron…
